Esta iglesia se construyó, por orden de los Reyes Católicos, a partí de 1485 cuando conquistaron Ronda. Se escogió una mezquita y se la transformó en altura para adaptarla a su nueva función de iglesia mayor de la ciudad. Es de estilo gótico-renacentista, contrafuertes exteriores rematados en pináculos renacentistas, fachada sobria con un frontón triangular con un óculo como única.

Towering above the Almocábar gate, the monolithic church of the Holy Spirit is the Ciudad's unofficial cathedral, and certainly the place where the señoritos and their ladies from Ronda's old families can be seen at Sunday mass. It was begun in 1485, the year of Ronda's Reconquest, by order of the Reyes Catolicos.

Die Iglesia del Espíritu Santo befindet sich nahe dem einstigen Stadttor Puerta de Almocábar im alten Teil von Ronda. Der massive und wehrhaft wirkende Sakralbau wurde nach der Reconquista der Stadt von 1485 bis 1505 errichtet. Vom Grundriss her gleicht das Bauwerk einem Kreuz, die Krypta zeigt bereits deutliche barocke Einflüsse.

Esta iglesia fue mandada edificar por los Reyes Católicos tras la conquista de la ciudad de Ronda, en el Arrabal Alto, sobre una antigua mezquita ubicada en la torre ochavada por donde hicieron su entrada las tropas cristianas. A caballo entre los siglos XV y XVI, sus obras se iniciaron en el año 1485 y finalizaron en 1505 .
